About Peggy Cooper Cafritz

Peggy Cooper Cafritz is one of DC’s most distinguished contributors to the arts. Through her visionary work with the Duke Ellington School, she has touched the lives of high school students in a profound and lasting way, having nurtured talent that would have otherwise been unnoticed and lost to us. She has enriched the lives of all DC residents, not only by impacting those of the young, but by bringing attention to the arts in our everyday lives. She has worked tirelessly to enrich this city—all the various communities within Washington—in a profound and lasting way. For all her work at the Duke Ellington School, on the School’s board, and for her dedicated leadership of the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. wishes to honor her.
